Team Metamorphosis launches detergent powder in Wokha
Dimapur, July 1 (EMN): The Team Metamorphosis in collaboration with the Wokha district administration under the Bedi Bachaao Bedi Padhao scheme launched the detergent washing powder called ‘Tsunglup,’ an initiative for women empowerment targeting the marginalised section on June 27.
The detergent powder was made by the members of the team along with women self help groups based in Wokha town. Team Metamorphosis learned the art from Kehinye, a SHG from Tseminyu town, informed an update received here on Wednesday.
For the last three years, the team has been engaged in activities for the uplift of the marginalised and less privileged women and youth through skill development training like detergent making, paper bags making, electrification, live sound system management, and micro financing.
The team also distributed sanitary pads free of cost to the marginalised women for which the team was collaborated by the Serendip Guardians in association with the Humans of Nagaland on the campaign ‘tackling period poverty during Covid-19.’ The campaign aimed at distributing free sanitary pads to seven thousand women for three months, it informed.
Gracing the function at the Team Metamorphosis office, Extra Assistant Commissioner Imtijungla Longkumer expressed happiness that the local people are actively participating in the production of local materials for self reliance. She also cited an example about how popular the little ‘Shillong Saboon’ (Shillong soap) has become and which has been produced by the locals of the state.
Nine internees of NEISSR, Dimapur were working with the Team Metamorphosis after they learned making the detergent powder. They were also assigned to assist the team in locating beneficiaries.
