Dimapur, March 4 (EMN): Team Metamorphosis (TM) undertook a poster campaign on the slogan ‘plastic-free town’ in the main market areas of Wokha town on March 4.
The poster campaign, led by its president M James Tungoe, reiterated the total ban on the use of single-use plastic products as per the government notification, an update from Team Metamorphosis stated on Thursday. The banned items included all single-use plastics, styrofoam or thermocol cutlery, cups plates, polythene, nylon, PVC, PP, poly styrene etc.
The government notification has authorised the district administration/ ULBs to decide and levy penalties against any defaulters. All public institutions, commercial establishments, offices, hotels, shops, religious institutions, industrial establishments, banquet halls etc. are also directed to strictly comply with the notification adding that any breach would be liable for penalties.
The team also thanked Mhathung Tsanglao, ADC and administrator of Wokha Town Council, for the support and tireless effort towards the implementation and success of the plastic-free town and environment-friendly business ideas.
