Team Dhansiri overall champions of NSUDD-DENSU sports meet
DIMAPUR — The Naga Students’ Union Dehradun (NSUDD), in collaboration with the Dehradun Eastern Naga Students’ Union (DENSU), organised a three-day sports meet on the theme ‘Sporting triumphs’ at Tulas Institute, Dehradun, from March 18 to the 20th.
Dr. Nokmatongba Jamir, Deputy General Manager of ONGC Dehradun, attended the occasion as the chief guest, and update stated.
The opening ceremony, conducted by Viwiesie Poji, assistant games and sports secretary of NSUDD, commenced with an invocation by Pastor Along Tzudir, NCF Dehradun.
Khyolanno B Kikon, games and sports secretary, NSUDD, welcomed all the participants, while felicitation of the chief guest was conducted by Lumchungli T Sangtam, president of DENSU.
The oath taking was led by Atuk Manpa, games and sports secretary, DENSU.
A special song was presented by Kinikali Yeptho, and Bopeto K Shohe delivered the vote of thanks, which was followed by a traditional Naga wrestling match.
The participants were divided into four houses – Dhansiri, Doyang, Dikhu and Tizu – and the event witnessed a spirit of unity and healthy rivalry.
Over the course of the meet, the students competed in various sports disciplines including football, basketball, volleyball and tug of war, showcasing their talent and determination.
The second day witnessed a thrilling display of athleticism in track and field events, where participants showcased their dedication and passion and the crowd reciprocated with cheers.
On the final day of the sports meet, anticipation reached its peak as participants geared up for the remaining events. Team Doyang emerged triumphant in the football and basketball finals, demonstrating their skill and teamwork.
However, it was Team Dhansiri who claimed the title of overall champions after a fiercely contested relay
The highlight of the day was the fiercely contested relay race, where each house vied for the title of the fastest team on campus. The sports meet concluded with Team Dhansiri emerging as the overall champions.
