Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Nov. 29 (EMN): The government primary school of Shitilong in Mongsenyimti village has attained 50 years on Thursday. A golden jubilee celebration was held in the school’s premise with minister for Public Works department, Tongpang Ozukum, as the ‘special invitee.’ The minister is said to be an alumnus of the school. Calling the profession of teaching a noble profession that shapes future leaders, Ozukum urged educated youths not to take up teaching as a ‘last resort’ profession. He said that taking to the profession without passion would not move the society forward but lead to the downfall of the generations. “Teaching profession is not the last resort for survival. In fact, it is the noblest job of all profession,” Ozukum said. He challenged the gathering to take the teaching profession seriously. Calling the teaching profession a monotonous task, he said: ‘If the teachers do not update themselves and depend solely on bookish knowledge than it will not help the students to excel in life.’ In this connection, the minister urged the teachers to be updated with the latest knowledge and information to feed the students, which he said would also help the teachers to become successful persons in life. To the people of Mongsenyimti, he challenged them to retrace ‘what foundation the school was established on’ and how far the school had achieved its vision. ‘It is time for the school to put their heads to together to set a worthy vision that has to be achieved while the school celebrates its 75th anniversary,’ Ozukum said. The minister also released the jubilee’s souvenir during the programme.
