Dimapur, November 30: Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome underlined that success of anti-tobacco campaign lies with responsible persons leading by example and ensure that children in their formative years do not start using tobacco.
Speaking at the 3rd quarterly review meeting of the District Level Co-ordination Committee (DLCC) at West City Building, Dimapur, on November 30,the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DLCC Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome asked the teachers in different institutions to lead by examples as children look up to them as role models.
Principal of JE College, Diphupar, Limatemjen speaking on ‘Being tobacco free institution,’ shared the challenges faced by the institution while trying to keep the institute free from tobacco. He felt that the church would be an important platform to carry anti tobacco campaign.
DNO, NTCP, Dr. C Tetso explained the norms of ‘Tobacco free school’ to the gathering.
Putting up “Tobacco Free Zone” boards at all government offices and to encourage school children to participate in anti tobacco campaign, keeping in mind the effectiveness of peer pressure and to approach the churches to carry out the anti tobacco message through their platform were the main agendas discussed during the meeting.
