Dimapur, Jan. 23 (EMN): Nagaland SSA Teachers' Association (NSSATA) Tuensang unit has decided to boycott classes in the new academic session with effect from Jan. 28 2019 over non-payment of teachers’ salary since September last year. The unit comprising DEO Tuensang, SDEO Tuensang, SDEO Longkhim, SDEO Shamator and SDEO Noklak said in a statement that it would boycott classes till the pending salaries are paid with 7th ROP and arrear. It claimed the government had agreed to pay the teachers’ salary during a meeting held on June 12, 2018 along with the NSF and ENSF but has failed to keep the promise. “Since September 2018 till date, SSA (2010 and 2013) is surviving without any salary,” read the statement from NSSATA, adding that “Nagaland government has turned SSA (2010 and 2013) into agitators and beggars.” It went on to say that PDA government decided in principle during the cabinet meeting held in Oct. 2018 to bring all the SSA teacher of the two batches into the mainstream of the school education cadre but nothing has been done. The association has also appealed for support from the NSF, ENSF, VECs, WECs, and SMDCs to solve the matter amicably.
