Teachers shortage at Wangkhao College: Ongoing subject dissolved
ENCSU expresses resentment
Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has expressed shock at the sudden notice issued by the authority of Wangkhao Govt. College under Mon district about dissolving Education honours course for the current year due to shortage of teaching faculty in the department.
The union has strongly opposed and expressed resentment to the decision of the college authority for removing the course without prior notice.
Instead of implementation new courses and facilities to the institution, the union said how the college authority can remove the ongoing course which was implemented decade ago, the press release from the union president and general secretary on Tuesday stated
Expressing concern to those students taking Education course, the union stated that many students are from poor background who cannot afford to go to other places to pursue their subject interest.
The union is angered by the mismanagement of education system which affects students’ career.
The ENCSU questioned the state government and the department of Higher Education on what ground the college authority is directed to issue sudden notification. It also queried why the govt. has failed to appoint sufficient teachers at Wangkhao College and why Education honours course be removed for current academic session.
The union appealed to the state government and the Education dept. to look into the matter immediately before the students resume their classes. It also warned the govt. will be held responsible if any problem arises.
Meanwhile, the ENCSU also appealed the government to take action on those professors in the eastern area colleges who are attached in other colleges or departments.
The union stated that it had submitted a memorandum to the commissioner secretary of Higher & Technical Education for necessary action and to let those erring teaches to be in their posting places.
The ENCSU also requested the government to immediately check and streamline all those teachers attached with politicians.
