Dimapur, March 8 (EMN): Khelhoshe Polytechnic is in the news again for the wrong reasons as the institution continues to endure criminal elements for long. The Khelhoshe Polytechnic Teachers’ Association (KPTA) has demanded that the authorities provide security and ensure safety of the institution’s members following another instance of theft.

The teachers issued a press release informing about burglary that happened during March 4-5 at the institute.

The teachers stated: ‘The KPTA strongly condemns the act of miscreants who ransacked the chemistry laboratory and stole some apparatus/items on 4th of March 2020. Thereafter, burglary and robbery in the staff quarters and stealing accessories by breaking the windows and forcibly opening the cars on 5th March 2020 late night in which many pen drives, contents, and important documents even related with ongoing NBA process, were also lost.’

Although the teaching members are giving their best, working tirelessly to bring up the institute, “many untold incident happens in the institute which made us demoralized and gives us insecure feelings of our staying.”

“Thus, the KPTA have concerned for their safety and security not only of their belongings but also for themselves as the incident happened well in their presence. It is to be noted that in spite of several representations given to the concerned authority for security personals to be stationed in the Institute, till date no such arrangement has been done.”

“Hence, the KPTA once again request the concerned authority to kindly look into our grievance and make necessary arrangement so as to give safety and security to the institute. Also the KPTA request the concern authority to booked the culprit at the earliest and gave befitting punishment as per the law.”

Nonetheless, the teachers have expressed gratitude to the minister of Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs for ‘showing his personal concern and support,’ and to the local council and communities, civil administration, and citizens for their support and cooperation.
