Teachers’ Day celebrated across Nagaland

Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): Teachers’ Day was celebrated across the state to pay tribute to teachers and also to commemorate the birth anniversary of noted scholar and the former President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Besides the official Teachers’ Day programme in all the districts, private schools and educational institutions also celebrated the day in their respective institutions.

Dimapur: Dimapur district observed common Teachers’ Day celebration at Kuda Youth hall with retired director of higher education, Nagaland, Kuholi Chishi, as special guest.

Kuholi in her address reminded the teachers to be well informed, live with integrity and be a teacher of all seasons.

On significance of the day, she said teachers have chosen one of the most noble jobs and therefore, teachers deserved to be treated with great respect.

“Be proud of who you are and do not succumb to any criticism,” she encouraged the teachers, while adding that teachers also need to be competent enough to know what they are supposed to do as a teacher.

Out of 10 nominees, four teachers were selected for the district award under the guidance and chairmanship of DC Dimapur. The awardees are Imkongnungsang from GHSS Dimapur, N Illitoli Sema from GMS Lhomithi colony, Hokali Y Khulu from GPS/GMS Diphupar Sumi and Rosy Gogoi from SD Jain HSS.

Mokokchung: In Mokokchung, the Teachers’ Day celebration was organised by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) at the town hall with the theme ‘Leading in crises, re-imagining the future.’ Chief Conservator of Forest (EBR), SupongnukshiAo, was the main speaker of the programme while president, AKM, Nungdokyanger Ao delivered the key note address. DC Mokokchung, DEO Mokokchung and ANPSA, Mokokchung unit, also spoke on the occasion, a DIPR report stated.

Tuensang: The district education office, Tuensang, conducted Teachers’ Day celebration at Town Hall with deputy commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant, as the guest of honour. A DIPR report informed that the DC in his address said teaching is one profession which is “immortal in nature” and that no other services or jobs can acquire such a tag. Ramnikant also said that the students coming to the stage to perform with utmost discipline is a reflection of the teachers’ sincerity and dedication. He also challenged the gathering to do away with proxy teachers so that such activities do not overshadow the dedication and hard work of the sincere and committed teachers. The DC also gave away the district teachers awards.

Kiphire: Kiphire District celebrated Teachers’ Day at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall with the DC Kiphire, T Wati Aier, as the guest of honour. The DC in his address said students should respect their teachers and appreciate them for their tireless effort by providing quality education and guiding them, an official update stated. Aier urged the students to maintain discipline and to be pro-active and focused in all the activities to be good students. Stressing on the role of a teacher, he said apart from teaching, a teacher is also a mentor and a guide to the students. On the occasion, three teachers received the district teachers’ award.

Wokha: The All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA), Wokha unit, celebrated Teacher’s Day at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Wokha, with advisor for Law & Justice, Dr. Chumben Murry as the special guest, a DIPR report stated. Dr. Murry in his address congratulated the teachers for their service and sacrifice in shaping and moulding the lives of the students. He urged upon them to be agents of change. Other highlights of the programme included cultural presentation, poetry recitation and songs and dances presented by various schools under of the association.

Peren: In Peren, the celebration was held at Government High School, Ngwalwa where Lungciepeule, a class 10 student, spoke on the significance of Teacher’s Day. The school headmaster, Chusi Hieme, responded on behalf of the teachers, an official report stated. Teachers’ Day was also celebrated at GHSS Ahthibung. The students presented various items including special numbers, and fancy dress show to mark the celebration. The event culminated with vote of thanks proposed by headmaster, Elvis Singson.

Tseminyu: The celebration was organised by the office of SDEO at mini indoor stadium, Tseminyu town, with the district DC, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, as the special guest. According to an official update, Chusi in his address said the day serves as an opportunity to show gratitude to the teachers and educators for playing an important role in shaping the future of the students and society. The special guest further remarked on the importance of teachers stating that “teachers are professionals and the most important persons in a society” and that all citizens are products of teachers in one way or the other.

Mon: The department of School Education, Mon, organised Teachers’ Day celebration with the theme ‘Teachers: leading in crisis, re-imagining the future,’ at council hall, Mon. A DIPR report stated that DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, who was the guest of honour in his speech stressed on the important role of both the teacher and student in steering the direction of any society. Verma used a flowing river as a metaphor for teachers and urged the students to strive to attain their best by making full use of their flowing river of knowledge. Four teachers from different parts of Mon were presented with the District Teachers Award for their outstanding service.

MGM school teachers day

MGM College: Students of MGM College, Dimapur, organised a Teachers’ Day programme as a mark of love and gratitude towards the faculty members of MGM College. Principal of MGM College, Rev. Fr. Dr. PS Varghese, who delivered the welcome address emphasised on the role played by the teachers in moulding young minds, informed an update from the college.

KV Dimapur:  Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dimapur, celebrated Teachers’ Day with pomp and fervor. The school in an update informed that the programme started with the morning assembly by placing flowers on the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. A seminar was conducted on ‘Importance of education in human life’ in which all the faculty members and students of class IX to XII participated and expressed their views.

Meanwhile, Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Ram Janaki HSS, and Mokokchung College of Teacher Education, Government Primary School, Ward-7, Medziphema Town and State Bank of India, Tuensang, also celebrated Teachers’ Day.
