TDFA Cup underway in Tuensang
Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): The 2nd edition of Tuensang District Football Association (TDFA) Cup was declared open by Chairperson Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Right Awan Konyak at the parade ground in Tuensang on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion Awan reflected on the theme ‘surpass the game’ while deliberating that it is profound and speaks of human beings to aspire beyond what the rules and regulations stipulated, to think out of the box, to break the mould and to think creative and to innovate . She further pointed out that, we should not be chained by our traditions and customs but rather we should use the positives of our rich traditional heritage to move forward and dust off our head hunting mentally and become leaders in different fields and bring positives changes to the social construct. Awan also said that, the people have great potential to bring about and create new benchmarks to all the existing parameters in the world and that we should all have the will and perseverance to perform to the best of our abilities. She further opined that, games in general can be compared with how we live our lives. Not every day will be the same she said adding, one should be humble in victory and gracious in defeat and encouraged upon the players to maintain strict discipline and practice fair play. The 2nd edition of TDFA Cup will witness a total of 28 teams slotted in 8 pools. In the opening match last year’s defending champion Excel Naga FC upset their rival Sonic Strikers 7-0. In the second match of the day Keiyang XI FC defeated Mohican Boys FC by 4-0 goals.
