Taylor Swift’s latest album ‘1989’ is continuing to rack up some more than impressive sales, with forecasters claiming the record could now sell 1.2 million copies within just its first week of being on sale. Former album ‘Red’ – released in 2012 – took 1.21 million in its first week, and is noted by Nielsen SoundScan as the last release to sell a million copies in a week’s timeframe. Released on October 27, ‘1989’ is Taylor’s fifth studio album and total sales are to be collated and revealed early next week. Sources claim that it took just a day for 600,000 copies of the album to fly off the shelves, many from Target which carried an exclusive version and Apple’s iTunes store. If it does indeed sell as is predicted, ‘1989’ becomes the year’s biggest-selling album after just seven days of being on-sale, and will have the largest sales week by any album since ‘Red’.
