Dimapur, Nov. 23 (EMN): The Central GST Commissioner’s office in Dimapur organised a “taxpayers outreach programme” to advocate the Sabka Vishwas Scheme or legacy dispute resolution, besides highlighting issues of the new goods and services tax (GST) returns, on November 22 in Kohima.

The organisers issued a press release giving updates about the event. In the first session, a presentation was given to the gathering about the Sabka Vishwas Scheme for 2019 which the organisers said offers a golden opportunity to taxpayers for closing their pending disputes related to previous service tax and central excise cases that are now subsumed by the GST.

This scheme was introduced by the Union government in Budget 2019. It closes on December 31, the updates stated.
In the second session, a presentation was made on the new GST returns which are likely to be introduced by the government in the next financial year, the updates stated.

“The changes and benefits of the new returns were discussed during the session. All tax payers were also encouraged to use the new returns trial version tool which is already available online on the GST portal so that they may familiarize themselves with the new format before it is launched next year,” the tax establishment stated.

A similar outreach programme is scheduled for taxpayers at Mokokchung on Monday, November 25 2019 at 12:00 noon. ‘All taxpayers are invited to attend,’ the press release stated.
