Taurus lift 4th Men’s Open Basketball Trophy

Kohima, Sep. 16 (EMN): Taurus defeated Arintin Ventures 77-58 in the final to win the 4th Men’s Open Basketball Trophy on Friday at Oriental College in Kohima.
On road to the final, Taurus drubbed Aztecs 97-39 in their first match, while the team also defeated Ravens 77-49 in their quarter-final match before beating Netters ‘A’ 79-72 in the second semi-final match.
Winning the competition, Taurus fetched INR 50,000 as the champions, while Arintin Ventures received INR 30,000 as the runner-up.
Nukshizulu of Taurus received INR 5,000 on being declared as most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament.
Visetonuo Kire, assistant director of School Education who attended the final as guest of honour, gave away prizes to the winners.
Altogether, 15 teams from and within Kohima competed in the four-day tournament, which was organised as part of the silver jubilee celebration of Oriental College, Kohima.
