Tati Enterprise informs on open Benchrest air rifle competition

KOHIMA — The second edition of the open Benchrest air rifle shooting competition will be held on December 7 and the 8th  at Phezou Resort, Tuophema village.

The event, as claimed by the organisers, is one of the first of its kind in North East India, which started last year during the Hornbill Festival.

In an interaction with media persons in Kohima on Saturday, the organisers of the event, The Tati Enterprise, said that their initiative ‘Shoot to preserve’ aims to change the mindset of people from hunting to sports, so as to preserve wildlife and to make people shoot professionally.

Neikeso Zumu, CEO of The Tati Enterprise, said that their initiative has impacted nearby villages. Following their initiative, many villages under the Northern Angami-II started prohibiting the use of air guns for hunting down wildlife.

He said that The Tati Group Enterprise with its headquarters at Tuophema village, Kohima district, was formed in 2017 by a group of like-minded youngsters to foster unity, harmony, peace, and human and economic development towards greater heights as well as to bring economic development towards greater heights as a whole.

As for the competition, he informed that it will consist of two categories. The first is .177 with 20, 35 and 50 meters distance for shooters. The other is open (.22, .25, .30, .177) with distances of 50, 75, and 100 meters.

Vizhalie Sanchu, managing director of The Tati Enterprise, said that there will be an extravaganza night for all the participants, featuring young and upcoming artistes including Keziah Semy, Angap Ngapgang, Runole Tep, and JV Kelio.

The Tati group has been empanelled under TaFMA Nagaland and has organised various shows, and talent hunts towards promoting music, youth and tourism in Nagaland, he added.

A total of 23 participants, including one from Assam, have confirmed their participation. Both categories are open to all and registration is still on. The event is being organised in partnership with the Govt. of Nagaland and the Tourism department.
