Tapi Bridge In Mon inaugurated

Dimapur, Nov. 30 (EMN): A 121-foot long bridge, Tapi Bridge, has been inaugurated in Mon district on Nov. 29, updates from the DIPR stated on Thursday. During the inaugural programme, advisor to DUDA and NEPED S. Pangnyu Phom said that the government was committed to an early solution of the Naga political issue. For that reason, the civil society, the ‘political groups,’ and the village communities and the public in general should extend cooperation to achieve the goal, he said. Legislator ThongwangKonyak who also spoke at the inaugural programme appreciated the DUDA department and the cooperation extended by the villagers for timely completion of the bridge. He urge the department to continue and support the people. To the villages, he urged them to extend their cooperation to the government agencies for ‘more development.’ EE of DUDA Sao Sangtam presented the technical report concerning the bridge. He pointed out that the 121 foot long single Length Bridge was completed in a span of nine months. The bridge between Totok Chingkho village and Choknyu village in Mon district, he added, was constructed through the Border Area Development Programme by the DUDA department. The bridge will effectively connect more than 40 villages including Tobu areas and Tuensang District. It will also reduce the travelling time to Mon by more than three hours. Moreover the valley around the bridge which is a very fertile region will be benefitted greatly as the project provides the much needed linkage to Mon town.
