Tangkhul org stages demonstration in support of Indo-Naga peace dialogue

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Tangkhul Civil Organization today organized a public demonstration in support of the ongoing Indo-Naga peace dialogue with the Government of India and NSCN IM.
Besides putting up banners, they also shouted the slogans such as “We want immediate Indo-Naga solution, we want honourable solution, stop militarization and make peace not war – from Dungrei junction on to Awontang, Ukhrul”, etc.
Chandel MLA Victor Nunghlung who was elected on Naga People’s Front ticket also personally visited the Ukhrul town showing solidarity to the people’s movement. He also visited all the area where the public staged demonstration from 11 am to1.30 pm, along with United Naga Council vice president Tonsing Worngam, Tangkhul Naga Long President Artax, All Naga Students Association Manipur president among others.Even though the State government has deployed additional state forces for ensuring law and order and also to control the situation, however, there were no reports of any confrontation with public or any harassment from arm police as well.
Meanwhile, in a press conference held at Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (Tangkhul students union) office, representative from Tangkhul Headmen Association (THA) General Secretary TS Zimik, General Secretary TKS, A Vashum, ANSAM President Seth Shatsang along with other leaders have expressed their support for the early Indo- Naga Peace solution, reports reaching here said.
Villagers of around 42 localities including the neighbouring villages Shirui, Langdang, Choithar, Lamlang, seikhor, Shimtang, Faling Aze and Faling Ato also took part in the day’s demonstration, according to THA functionary TS Zimik who also said that they are ready and prepared to face any eventuality and consequences.
Replying to the question about their demand, he affirmed that they will continue to fight unless the situation is brought under an amicable solution.
