Tamil Nadu government ready to send stranded people from NE

Dimapur, May 7 (EMN): The Tamil Nadu government is ready to send the stranded people from north-eastern states with the approval of the concerned state governments, said Wapangtoshi, state nodal officer for Covid-19, Chennai.

In an update, the nodal officer asked those people who want to travel to register with both the Tamil Nadu government online portal for registration and their respective state government’s online portal.

The concerned state government nodal officers are requested to communicate and consult with the Tamil Nadu government nodal authority for finalisation.

Tamil Nadu government will arrange trains with the railway department for transportation, he informed.

All the north-eastern state governments are also asked to submit the list of the stranded people to the Tamil Nadu government.

Nodal officers of the state for the movement of the Northeast stranded people to and from the state of Tamil Nadu, S J Chiru and R Sudhan held a meeting with the North East India Welfare Association Chennai along with the representatives of Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya on Thursday at the conference hall of the Agricultural Marketing Board department in Chennai on May 7.

So far, Assam, Manipur and Mizoram state governments are in touch with the Tamil Nadu government nodal authority with the official list and prepared to provide all the necessities on their arrival, he informed.
