T Khel and L Khel Triumph in cricket at KVSA Sports Meet

KOHIMA — The LXVI Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) Sports Meet progressed to its fifth day, featuring competitions in various disciplines, including cricket and indoor games.

In the first cricket (men) match held at the 4th NAP Thizama Ground on Thursday in Kohima, Lhisemia (L) Khel secured victory over Dapfütsumia (D) Khel by 8 wickets.

L Khel posted a performance of 154/2 in 17.1 overs, while D Khel scored 152/8 in 20 overs.

Top performances in the competition included Thejaselhou Yhome of L Khel scoring 52 runs, Thejasetuo Keretsu of D Khel with 47 runs, and Nouneyie Kesiezie of L Khel contributing 34 runs.

Bowling efforts in the second innings saw Thejaselhou Yhome, Khriesamhalie Yhome, and Chathavituo of L Khel taking 3, 2, and 1 wickets, respectively.

Thejaselhou Yhome received the player of the match award.

In the second match, Tsütuonuomia (T) Khel secured a victory by 62 runs, posting a score of 194/6 in 20.0 overs against Pfuchatsumia (P) Khel.

P Khel posted a score of 132/10 in 19.1 overs during the event.

Key highlights from the game included impressive batting performances by T Khel’s Kevihiezo Solo (55 runs), Ketholetuo Solo (49 runs), and Dziesevotuo John Belho (43 runs).

Notably, Kevihiezo Solo and Ketholetuo Solo showcased their all-rounder skills by taking 3 wickets each, while Khriesavituo Solo contributed 2 wickets.

Ketholetuo Solo earned the player of the match title.

The games were organised by the Kohima District Cricket Association.

With the win, T Khel will take on L Khel in the final match on Friday.

Meanwhile, the indoor games were underway at the State Indoor Stadium in Kohima, at the time of filing this report.

Throughout the day, preliminary rounds for volleyball and basketball, held at Don Bosco Ground in Kohima village for both men and women, along with men’s football at IG Stadium, were conducted.

Anticipation builds as the finals for these events are scheduled for the upcoming days of the sports meet.
