Symphony students present musical concert
SYMPHONY Academy of Music (SAOM) presented a grand musical concert Sunday evening at the RCEMPA, Jotsoma.
Around 130 students of the academy performed in the event. Students as young as 7 years old displayed proficiency with their respective instruments and powerful vocals, enthralling a capacity crowd at the regional centre hall.
However, in the end it was Symphony Orchestra, the academy’s own 35-member orchestra that stole the show with their covers of classics ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’ (JS Bach) and Peter Martin’s ‘Hornpipe’.
Other performances included guitar and piano ensembles, solos, and Symphony senior and junior bands and choirs.
“Great, decent entertainment, especially for parents and grandparents,” says Dr. Ayu Pusa, who came to watch her 9 year old son perform. While expressing pride to see her young child perform on stage with confidence, she feels that such shows create a positive balance and should be encouraged.
According to Temsu, a music enthusiast, the academy’s authorities need to be appreciated. “I have witnessed SAOM’s annual concerts for the last two years and they are just getting better and better,” he says. He observes that the academy is not just grooming young talents but also presenting opportunities and platforms for the students to make their mark.
“Its a good start… Now that we know music is a big industry and our children have natural talents, parents can encourage their young ones more,” says Daniel Thong, another parent who was present at the concert.
Symphony Academy of Music was started about 4 years back and has had a successful journey so far, nurturing budding talents in the music sector.
