Swachhta Hi Seva fortnight campaign begins in Mon

Dimapur, Sep. 12 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mon, launched the Swachhta Hi Seva (Cleanliness service) fortnight campaign on September 12 at KVK Mon office in Aboi town. The fortnight programme will culminate on October 2.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan, ACTO (GPB), who also spoke on the importance of planting trees for green environment and ecosystem. He also spoke on public hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness of one’s surrounding. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu, senior scientist and head of KVK Mon stated in a release.

Dr. Paihem Michui, ACTO (Ani. Sc.) welcomed the participants and stated that Swachhta Hi Seva aims at generating greater public participation towards cleanliness and to make sanitation everyone’s business.

Dr. Ruokuoville Mezhatsu made a power point presentation on plastic waste management and towards effective ban of single-used plastic.

During the interactive session Phuju, farmer from Ngangching village, encouraged the gathering to put into practice of cleanliness in one’s life, while farm woman from Sowa village challenged the participants to be agent of change for other to see. Poleng Konyak, a resident of Aopao village, shared his willingness to contribute towards cleanliness drive for a better and greener village.

Planting of Khokan (Dhuabanga grandiflora Roxb.) tree saplings at KVK premises also marked the occasion.
Altogether, 120 farmers, farmwomen, rural youth, extension personnel and civil societies from Sowa, Mohung Changgai, Aopao, Ngangching, Langmeing villages and different wards of Aboi town participated in the programme.
