SVEEP campaign held in Pughoboto

Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign was held in Pughoboto town on July 15 on the theme “One Man One Vote.”
To mark the occasion, District Icon and special guest, Khaheli, flagged off the half marathon race which was participated by both men and women. The race was categorised into five groups comprising senior and junior men and women including the sub junior. The race, which started at town hall via Laza point culminated at the town hall.

Addressing the gathering, District Icon said that people need to make a vow to themselves that they will follow true principles and create awareness to the society for change. Stating that ‘change starts happening only when we start inculcating the right perspective,’ she informed that every adult who has attained 18 years of age has been provided an opportunity to select their leader through voting. She mentioned that clean election campaign aims to safeguard and nurture democracy by educating voters about issues of corruption. She encouraged all concerned to be more active in the future.
Second women to represent Nagaland in Femina Miss India 2017, first runners up Ponds Eclectic model Hunt 2015 and First runners up Miss Sumi, Kakheli Chopy gave away cash awards to the winners of the marathon race. Others officials, who gave away the prizes included ADC, Pughoboto, PATC chairman Viyikhu Q Wotsa.
Executive Secretary SABAK, Hotokhu Zhimomi and Executive Secretary NCRC, Tokokhu Swu, also spoke on the occasion. Students of Oriental Theological Seminary presented special song titled “Raise up Oh Nagaland and fight the corruption.” They also enacted skit on choosing a right leader.
ADC & DEO Pughoboto, Avelu Ruho, in her address, asked the people to delete the dead names, proxy, and called upon them to maintain ‘One Man One Vote.’
SDO Civil, Chonpenthung Ezung, who chaired the function, also highlighted on SVEEP campaign and appealed to the participants to make a change though their vote.
