Dimapur, Nov. 29 (EMN): While clarifying that leakage of Class VIII and IX question papers from Government High School (GHS), Sovima, was the handiwork of some miscreants who broke open the school office and stolen the question papers, Sovima Village Council (SVC) has requested the department to reconsider cancellation of examination centre at GHS, Sovima, stating that it would greatly disturb the preparations, schedule, and logistics of the students and families.

A press release issued by SVC chairman Neikhriehu Kense has clarified that the question papers of the board examination were not leaked by any person but were stolen through criminal acts. He stated that on hearing of the incident, the village authorities immediately visited the school and took stock of the situation.

He added that a case was also reported to the police and investigating police officers who discovered that the school properties were damaged and the question papers were stolen. However, it was found that no school staff were involved.

It added that the village and school authorities had extended full cooperation to the investigation and the alleged culprits were identified and taken into custody. The council has also urged upon the authorities to take appropriate action and penalise the culprits as per the laid down rules and the laws of the land.

The council has further assured its full co-operation in all aspects and look forward to solving of the concern in a sympathetic and humanitarian manner.

ANSTA condemns

All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) has outrightly condemned the theft of question papers at Government High School (GHS) Sovima, Dimapur, by some miscreants who broke in through the windows and stole the question papers.

The association president Ponchulo Wanth and the general secretary Visato Koso have termed the incident ‘unfortunate and unbecoming’ as it has created lot of problems/inconveniences for the students, teachers, parents and concerned offices of NBSE and SCERT respectively.

The association has requested the concerned authority to constitute an inquiry committee to probe into the incident and award appropriate punishment to the guilty as per the law of the department. The association informed the teaching community that Science subject which was held on the first day would be taken as it was while for other subjects the exams would be held as per the new routine rescheduled by NBSE starting from November 30.

In this regard, the association has requested the teachers involved in the exam to bear with inconvenient situation and follow the new routine. Stating that situation has been brought under control, the association has urged the students not to panic but study hard and come out with flying colours.

It hoped that NBSE would come out with some effective measures so as to check such cases of thief/leakage of confidential papers in the near future.
