DIMAPUR — The Suthozumi Chess Association, based in Phek district, is set to host its first Nagaland Online Open Chess Tournament on August 15 at 1:30 pm.


Organised under the aegis of the Nagaland Chess Association, the event aims to promote the game of chess throughout the state, informed a press statement.


The tournament will be conducted on the Lichess server in a Swiss League format of 13 rounds with a blitz time control of 3 minutes.

A total prize pool of INR 20,800 will be awarded across various categories, including prizes for the top 20 players in the Open category and for the top three players in both the Under-17 and Under-11 categories.


Special prizes will also be given to the best female and best veteran players. The tournament is open only to residents of Nagaland.


The registration fee is INR 200 for the Open category and Rs. 100 for the Under-17, Under-11, female, and veteran players. The last date for registration is August 14, 2025, until 8 pm. For online registration or further inquiries, one can contact 7005903450.
