Dimapur, March 10 (EMN): SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) has passed several resolutions including indefinite suspension of the ongoing two-lane road project under Sumi jurisdiction over land compensation issue.

The resolutions were unanimously passed at a joint consultative meeting of SSAALWC with eight villages namely Kilomi, Khughuto, Kilo Old, Zhekiye, Aghuyito, Shoixe, Yemishe and Sukhalu on March 6 at Shoixe village to deliberate the unresolved property damage compensation issue of Special Accelerated Road Development Programme (SARDP)-NE two-lane road project, informed a press release issued by the convener and secretary of the committee.

A representation addressed to the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, a copy of which is with this newspaper, stated that the house had passed resolution to demand the DC of Zunheboto to revoke the order dated February 22, 2021, “ordering to take action to any individual(s)/group(s) or organisation instead of addressing our genuine demands”.

It resolved to demand “suspension of ongoing road project under Sumi jurisdiction (from Kilomi/Mudutsugho to Zunheboto) for an indefinite period till the compensation is paid to the beneficiaries with effect from 10th March, 2021. Machineries/vehicles belonging to construction firm/company will not be allowed to enter or exit to any of the villages mentioned above”.

“During the period of indefinite suspension of work, if any law enforcement agency(s) arrests any individuals/landowners, the eight villages will collectively take the matter to the administration for reasoning,” it added.

The house also resolved to take stern action on any individual who hampers the joint resolutions of eight villages by allowing the work in their village jurisdiction.
