‘Survival Nagaland has been put under unfair police scanner’

The Survival Nagaland (SN) has slammed the recent reports that appeared in sections of national media which had alleged Survival Nagaland to be involved as ‘instigating group’ in the heinous lynching of the accused rapist. While clarifying the allegation, the Survival Nagaland said, “SN attended the rally at city tower called by the NSF on 5th March as an invitee and along with other NGOs/civil society organisations did speak demanding justice for the rape victim as per the law. Also, Survival Nagaland repeatedly requested the people not to take the law into their own hands.”
“If Survival Nagaland is allegedly involved as insinuated by certain organisation and sections of our society it is indeed a sad commentary on our mentality. This insinuation has poisoned the atmosphere at the highest level of governance, and thus, SN has been put under unfair police scanner when the reality is that vested elements could have easily taken advantage of the emotionally surcharged atmosphere. At this point of time when our Naga image has taken a turn for the worst even in international forums, Nagas should be standing united instead of pointing fingers at each other.”
Stating that illegal immigrants is a Naga issue and that it is not interested in conspiring against any government, SN said, success depends when all sections of society, including government and police force co-operate.
SN said, it will extend full co-operation to the ongoing inquiry to bring the guilty to book but all the leaders of various organizations, including students accept collective responsibility for the unfortunate incident instead of playing the blame game.
SN also said it will extend co-operation to the authorities in finding the best possible conclusion in all fairness and truth.
“Notwithstanding the false allegations on Survival Nagaland, we stand on to carry on our movement against illegal immigrants in Nagaland in a peaceful manner. SN as a movement from its inception has stood against the influx of Illegal Immigrants in Nagaland in a non-violent manner. It has been raising awareness on this issue and sensitizing the various organizations on the imminent threat the influx and the increase in the IBI population pose, taking example from other north-eastern States. For the record, Survival Nagaland is not against any community, religion, group or political party.”
