DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 11

Volunteers of the Survival Nagaland Movement, in continuation of its drive for cross verification of documents in possession of Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants (IBIs) conducted surprise checking in the NST complex Dimapur. During the drive, it was found that more ‘dirt which will open a can of worms of different departments viz. district administrations, transport departments, local authorities etc.” Media Cell, Survival Nagaland informed through a release that most of the “fake’ driving licenses were from the DTO Tuensang, DTO Wokha and DTO Zunheboto and surprisingly none of these persons know anything about driving a vehicle.
According to a statement from Survival Nagaland (SN), a non-local was even found possessing a GB association identity card. Most of these shops at the NST Complex are let-out to IBIs from Karimganj district of Assam, the SN press note release stated and further questioned how the identity documents they possessed, were Government Issued ID Cards from the District Commissioners office of our state. SN then expressed its surprise as to how most of the shops original allottees are the department officers and have been let out to IBIs.
“This clearly shows how the greed for easy money has made the Naga higher strata without a care for their own people which could be easily let out to our own people,” SN Media cell stated. SN also said that it will publish names of those original allottees with those whom they have been let out. SN then expressed its deep appreciation towards the initiative by Naga Students Federation (NSF) to conduct awareness campaign on IBI related issues throughout the state.
While welcoming such an initiative, it has assured the NSF of its fullest cooperation towards the step taken by the apex students’ body. SN has also urged upon the apex bodies of all tribal organisations to realize the grim gravity of the situation posed by the IBIs on the socio-political and economic lives of the Nagas and further urged upon the tribal organisations to render their support towards the move by NSF.
