Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): A seminar on child rights and child protection and its mechanisms in Nagaland was conducted by the district child protection unit in collaboration with the Dimapur district administration. The programme was conducted on October 24 at the Tourist Lodge in Dimapur. The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates on Thursday to the media informing about the programme. During the event, Dimapur’s Deputy Commissioner Kevekha Zehol reminded stakeholders that they are dealing with a ‘very special section of people who are the future of tomorrow.’ He felt the need to create more awareness among the people about the vulnerabilities and situations young people face in today's world ‘due to different factors such as social media through which people are easily lured to different kinds of negative situations.’ During the programme, the resource persons talked about the roles of the child welfare committees, juvenile justice boards, district child protection units, among other agencies. Members of the support centre Dimapur Childline gave a presentation about its activities. Other topics that were part of the discourse included procedures of adoption, the IPR stated.
