DIMAPUR — The lone Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland, S Supongmeren Jamir, on Tuesday raised the issue of the long-delayed Dimapur to Tizit railway line project during the Parliament session.

In a written submission under Rule 377, Jamir highlighted that the Dimapur–Tizit new railway line project, initiated by the Ministry of Railways (North East Region) in 2013–14, was aimed at enhancing rail connectivity in Nagaland through a 257-kilometre stretch.

The project was estimated to cost INR 4,274 crore.

However, more than a decade since its announcement, there has been no financial progress, with the project reportedly still at “zero” in terms of execution, he told the Lower House.

Jamir urged the Union minister of railways to take immediate and effective steps to expedite the implementation of the project, which he said would significantly benefit connectivity and economic development in Nagaland.

Later in the day, the MP also joined a protest demonstration in New Delhi, led by lawmakers of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar.
