The Sunday market running at the circular road stretching from the clock tower till near the Bishop’s House is creating a lot of harassment for the commuters. Both motorists as well as pedestrians and especially for the people attending the Sunday church services are facing problem by this market which starts early every Sunday morning. It will be good if the district administration and the DMC put a stop on it immediately and shift it towards some other place where there is sufficient open place like the state stadium or the super-market area which will not bother church-goers on our holy day. Some writers in the past too have written about this market but the district administration and the DMC are yet to take any steps on it. If people of other faiths are made to open shops on Sundays to shop without any difficulty and celebrate their festivals peacefully, why is the DMC and the district administration making it difficult and hard for us even to go to our church services peacefully here in our own place? We church-goers end up stuck up in traffic-jams making us unable to reach our church services on time. While coming back home also we have a difficult time due to the congestion created by this market. Even the lives of the children who are going and returning from their Sunday schools are endangered as all the footpaths are occupied by the vendors and children have to walk on the narrow roads with vehicles speeding by. We hope the DC of Dimapur and the CEO of DMC are listening and do the needful before any mishap happens from this Sunday market.
