Sumo XI to challenge Tsumang FC in LSU Martyr’s Trophy final

WOKHA — Sumo XI is set to clash with defending champions Tsumang FC in the final match of the 23rd edition of the ongoing Lotha Students’ Union Martyr’s Trophy, scheduled for May 15th.

On Tuesday, two semi-final matches were played. In the first match, Sumo XI faced Baghty Valley, and the former defeated Baghty Valley by two goals. Renben scored both goals in 18 and 31 minutes.

In the second semi-final match between Tsumang FC and New Colony Youth FC Wokha Town, the defending champions secured a convincing victory, defeating New Colony Youth FC, Wokha town, with a score of 4-1.

Yiben Ezung netted the opening goal for Tsumang FC in the 14th minute, which was then equalized by Hatabemo Ezung of New Colony Youth FC in the 32nd minute. In the second half, Mhonthung Ngullie scored for Tsumang FC in the 58th minute, followed by goals from Richan Lotha in the 70th minute and Mhabemo in the 89th minute, securing the victory for Tsumang FC.

S Benrio Kithan, Executive Engineer of the Water Resources department in Wokha, attended the first semi-final match as the match patron. Meanwhile, the second semi-final match was attended by Vungathung C Murry, President of the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The final match of the tournament will feature Yanrenthung Humtsoe, President of the Wokha District Sports Association (WDSA), as the chief guest for the closing ceremony, scheduled for 11 am on Wednesday.
