Sumis of Purana Bazaar celebrate Tuluni

Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): Sumi community of Purana Bazaar celebrated Tuluni, a festival of feast, sharing and merry-making to mark the beginning of new fruits, at Government High School ground, Purana Bazaar on Saturday. The festival, organised by Purana Bazaar Sumi Council, was celebrated with pomp and grandeur as all the colonies of Purana Bazaar put up extravagant and colourful cultural display in the forms of songs, dances, attires, games etc. Sumis of Purana Bazaar in their traditional fineries joined the celebration. MLA, 3 Dimapur-III A/C, Tokheho Yepthomi, graced the occasion as chief guest and encouraged the Sumis of Purana Bazaar to imbibe good values of life required for prosperous community. The chief guest said good habits leads and prosperous society. Khekuto Khulu, IAS who graced the occasion as ‘Tuluni papuh,’ said Tuluni festival symbolizes fraternity, solidarity, sharing and oneness not only among the Sumi community but Nagas as a whole. The celebration began with an invocation prayer by Rev. Dr. Vitoi Kappo, pastor EDSBC. Welcome address was delivered by GB Victo Wotsa, vice chairman of PBSC while Kisheto Kiho proposed vote of thanks and Rev. Dr. Shiwoto Assumi, pastor of NCRC Sumi, Purana Bazaar pronounced the benediction.
