DIMAPUR, AUGUST 17
After their heroic exploits last year, the Nagaland under-14 football team is gearing up to defend the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2015, which has been scheduled to be held at New Delhi from September 10 next.
The tournament will feature three separate categories – Sub-junior Boys (U-14), Junior Girls (U-17) and Junior Boys (U-17) – even as the Nagaland team will participate in the Su-junior Boys event as the defending champions.
State football coach, Mughato Sumi on Monday informed that open selection trials for interested, and eligible, young players will be conducted at the State Stadium, Dimapur on August 20 and 21. Interested players have been asked to reach the venue by 8 am on these two days. Mughato informed that the players must be aged below 14 years and must have a maximum of 28 teeth. They have also been advised to bring their own kits. Interested players from anywhere in Nagaland can apply for the try-outs, he informed.
