SU defeats SSU to win CC Meet

Imphal, March 18 (EMN): Sagolband United (SU) beat Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei to win the coveted 63rd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament, popularly known as CC Meet in Imphal on Friday.

In the final match of the month-long tournament, which started from February at Khuman Lampak main stadium in Imphal, SU beat SSU, Singjamei in a penalty shootout by a margin of 4-1 goal.

Altogether, 32 teams from across the state participated in the state’s biggest football tournament, which was held under the aegis of the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA).

It may be mentioned that SSU, Singjamei also lost to NEROCA FC, an Imphal based popular football club, 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw during normal time in the last CC Meet final.
