Dimapur, March 3 (EMN): The Confederation of Chang Students’ Union on Sunday announced that it will ‘lock down’ the offices of the district education officer and sub-divisional education officer at Tuensang from March 4.

A statement from the union informed that its action was in response to the failure of the state’s education Department to act on an ultimatum served by the union earlier. On Feb. 5, the union had asked the department for “immediate retention of downgraded” government high schools at Chingmei and Noksen within ten days.

It stated that the department was yet to respond to said ultimatum.

According to the union, repeated poor HSLC results had prompted the union to collaborate with the district education office in Tuensang to launch the ‘mission zero% free’ project. Under this project, the union has adopted the high schools for three years to help achieve the objective of eliminating practice of schools failing to register any successful candidates in the HSLC exams, it stated.
