Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The Khiamniungan Students’ Union are said to have initiated a 12-day repair works on the Noklak-Pathso road ‘which was constructed in the year 1966 and since then the road was neglected with no repairing by the department.’
The union issued on Monday a press release, besides photographs, to the media informing about the work.
‘It is the lone lifeline for the people of Pathso area connecting Noklak HQ with a total of seven villages. The road condition was so pathetic many unexpected accidents happened due to the negligence,’ the press release stated.
“The KSU took the initiative to uplift the people economically and socially since road connectivity plays vital role in modernizing the remote areas,” the union asserted.
The organisation expressed dismay that most of the roads in the ‘Khiamniungan jurisdiction’ are unattended 'despite several approach and proposals.’
The union has expressed appreciation to councils and churches in the Pathso area, Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association, Kusong village council and Thang village council and individuals for their contributions in cash, materials and labourers. The KSU also thanked the executive engineer for the Public Works department at Noklak for the machineries.
