'Students First' project benefited 142 persons in Zunheboto

Green Club Zunheboto members hand over cash to private school authorities on Thursday.

Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): A total of 142 marginalised students from 16 private schools in Zunheboto town, whose parents are labourers and daily wage earners, availed benefits from the Green Club Zunheboto's project "Students First".

In less than three weeks, the club raised INR 2,12,656 with contributions from like-minded people from within and outside the state, informed an update received from the club.

The amount was distributed according to the details submitted by different school heads to the club. Out of INR 2,12,656, INR 20,7200 was distributed to the 16 schools and the remaining amount INR 5,556 was donated to the students of Mount Carmel Home, Sukhalu, it informed.

The club thanked all the donors and Kitoho S Rotokha for his advice, support and help towards the success of the project.

The club also informed that it will be starting another project soon to help out needy parents affected by the lockdown by providing vegetable seeds for kitchen garden.

It informed that some of the private schools in Zunheboto have waived off two, three months of school fees for the less privileged students while some waived off 10% monthly fee since the lockdown.

On behalf of all the recipients and parents, the All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA), Zunheboto unit extended its gratitude to the Green Club Zunheboto for initiating the free-will donation drive and helped the students at these difficult times.

The ANPSA also appreciated the club for leading the way silently and teaching the generation to be out-centric.
