Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): The Aboi Area Students’ Union (Aasu) are said to have taken the initiative to build a room for a school at Aboi in Mon district.‘
The temporary measure was to solve the problem of accommodation faced by students, the Aasu stated. The group said to have constructed a classroom to accommodate 90-100 students.
The union issued a press release to the media on Tuesday informed about the development.
The government higher secondary school of Aboi had appealed for solution to problems being faced by the school specifically the lack of space to accommodate students, the press release stated.
‘This year too, the Aboi Area Students’ Union took the initiative to construct one room extension at government higher secondary school of Aboi as immediate measure to solve the problem face by students seeking admission in class 11, since the present GHSS building bears sub-standard construction and less space classrooms,’ the press release stated.
The union stated that Aboi town ‘being one of the fastest growing sub-divisions’ is also the headquarters for several surrounding villages. It has “only one” government higher secondary school, it stated.
‘With the high pass percentage in the high school leaving certificate examinations every year from Aboi examination centre, students seeking admission in class 11 face lots of difficulties and rejection due to intake capacity of classroom,’ the students’ union stated.
‘Though for temporary, in order to solve this problems face by the innocent students, the Aasu went for an alternative arrangement by constructing one classroom with intake capacity of 90-100 students.’
The organisation has appealed to the government authorities to “initiate immediate allotment of constructional work at GHSS Aboi to solve the prevailing problems permanently.”
The press release read: ‘To add to the misery of the students, there is a huge shortage of benches and desks which have made the students sit in tightly crammed areas during the hot humid season. Therefore, to impart the best education to the students, the union feels that school authorities should have full working strength of teaching staff and enough class rooms so that both the teachers and students are housed in a conducive and peaceful atmosphere for both teaching and learning.’
The Aasu expressed gratitude to individuals and organisations who contributed to the initiative.
The authorities in concern are asked to “kindly look into the grievances of the govt. higher secondary school at Aboi and also to check and appoint the lectures for the secondary standard faces with the shortage of lectures.”
Demanding that the authorities do the “needful necessary improvements at the earliest,” the organisation assured the department that the union shall continue working “hand in glove with the school authorities to produce the best government school results and meritorious students in the state.”
