Kohima, Feb. 13: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has earnestly appealed to all the Nagas to peacefully allow students to appear the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) examinations scheduled to begin from February 14.
In a release today, the NSF expressed concern that failing to conduct the examinations smoothly under conducive atmosphere would hamper the career of more than 55,000 students.
“The present social unrest in the state have obstructed the educational institutions from functioning their normal duties, this in the long run will spoil the future of a generation. Departments/offices involved in carrying out the examination duties should be allowed to function efficiently in the larger interest of the students’ community,” stated the release.
The federation maintained that opinion may vary on the conduct of the examination due to the present crisis, but students vying to get admission outside the state and also those appearing various competitive examinations may face difficulties if the results were not declared on time. Therefore, it felt that obstructing students from appearing their examinations may have an adverse affect from every sphere.
Stating that the NSF shall not compromise with the career of the students at any cost, it asked all its federating units and the subordinate bodies to monitor and help students who would be writing the Class X, XI and XII examinations so as to ensure smooth conduct of examination in their respective jurisdictions.
Mention may be made here that a team of NSF officials had a meeting with the NTAC in Kohima on Monday and appealed for exempting students from the purview of the ongoing indefinite bandh called by the JCC and the NTAC.
ENCSU
The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has also expressed concern that due to the present crisis in the state, students preparing for the HSLC, Class 11 Promotion and HSSLC Examinations have been “gravely affected”.
“When the students are preparing hard to do well in the final examination as this will decide their future, the present imbroglio has created lot of incommode and physiologically disturbed. Since the issue evoked yesteryear, there was not even a single day where the students get sufficient amount of peaceful time to prepare for such an important examination and it is continuing till today,” the ENCSU lamented. It stated that it was time for the people to acknowledge the importance of education and do the needful at the earliest in the interest of students’ community.
The ENCSU also appealed to all not to disturb the ensuing HSLC & HSSLC examinations but to allow them to be conducted peacefully as thousands of students are involved. “If we don’t acknowledge the importance of education now than at the end of the day, it will be only our own loss,” the ENCSU stated.
ASU
The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has reaffirmed its fullest support to the Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) and JCC on the ongoing impasse with the government, however as “guardian and custodian” of the students community, it appealed to the Hohos and organisations to create a conducive atmosphere to enable students to peacefully sit for the forthcoming HSLC/HSSLC examinations starting from Tuesday, taking into consideration the interest of the students community who are the backbone of the society.
ASU also voiced that the government of the day needs to open its mind to resolve the present imbroglio so as to mitigate the situation in the state. ASU will be monitoring the facilitation of students appearing exams undisturbed.
