Students commemorate Gandhian teaching in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, Oct. 1 (EMN): On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, students of the Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Human Development (MDAHD), NIELIT at Chuchuyimlang, and of the government high school at Chuchuyimlang commemorated Gandhi’s values and philosophy through a street play that was performed on Tuesday in the busy streets of Mokokchung.
The play was directed by Bendang Walling from Hill Theatre. The play is based on Gandhian philosophy relevant to the present times and the situation in our Naga society today, said Walling the director of the play.

The performance also consisted of flash mobs, street play and the parading of children dressed as Gandhi depicting the life of the Father of Nation. More than 60 students participated in the performance.

Dr Aotoshi, managing trustee of the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram (NGA), said that the centre wants to reach the masses on a bigger platform this year.

“The Gandhian teaching is the core essence in the Chuchuyimlang School,” he added.
The additional deputy commissioner of Mokokchung W Manpai Phom also acknowledged the NGA for their active participation in the Swachhta Hi Seva and following the core values of Gandhi.

He mentioned that October 2 being the day scheduled for a mass plastic collection programme, it will be observed in Mokokchung where all the stakeholders in the town will join the event.
