Students asked to stay away from tobacco

An update from district media officer Shekho Sophie informed that the event was organised by District Tobacco Control Cell, Zunheboto. Dr. Esther Ngullie, Dental Surgeon, District Hospital Zunheboto said at the event that “tobacco contributes to most of the leading causes of death in the world.” She highlighted the negative effects of tobacco on human health, risk factor and consequences. Stating that tobacco use affects the heart, liver and lungs, Ngullie “encouraged the students to do away with the use of tobacco” and “challenged them to live a healthy and beautiful life.” An open quiz competition was held and free IEC materials were given away during the awareness programme. A pledge was also taken during the event.
