Imphal, July 28 (EMN): A student from Tamenglong won the Kalachand Shastri Award which was conferred to the student toppers in arts, science and commerce streams of the Higher Secondary Examination, 2018 in Manipur on Saturday. The student was Dingtiplung Kamei son of Lungkupou,Tamenglong who secured 69 percent marks and was adjudged as topper in arts stream from Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal.
L Chingkheinganba son of Roben of Chajing khunou who secured 77.8 percent marks was topper in the science category while O Indrakumar of Keibul Lamjao who secured 78 percent marks was declared the topper student in commerce category. Special awards was also presented to Pishochandra Yumnam for his achievement at Science meet 2018 for his science model Automated Poultry Feeding Machine’ while Thiyam Nandalal Singh for his Robot JON17.
Speaking on the occasion held at Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal, Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that the new recruitment process for lecturers of Higher Secondary is being carried out on priority basis especially for English and Manipuri language due to acute shortage of teachers of these subjects.He sought support and coordination from the people and assured that the government is trying its best for the betterment of education sector.
Radheshyam,a newly appointed government spokesperson also observed that the education is to bring solutions to the problems. “We’re talented people, we work and serve not only in the other states of the country but also across the globe,” Radheshyam who recently visited Korea said. “We lack mentoring. We could do much better than others.”
He also informed that the government is trying its best to declare the pending semester examination of the colleges .
