Student organisations condemn demolition of NSF office

DIMAPUR — The student bodies of government colleges including FACSU Mokokchung, KSCSU Kohima, YCSU Longleng, DGCSC Dimapur, KCSC Kohima, ZGCSU Zunheboto, PGCSU Phek, PGCSU Pfutsero, WGCSU Mon, MTCSU Wokha, and PGCSU Peren have condemned the act of vandalism and demolition of the offices of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on May 27 by some unidentified miscreants.

In a joint statement, the student bodies stated that such cowardly act of anti-social elements carried out by some few vested individual is a direct threat to the student community. It, therefore, demanded the law enforcing agencies to book the culprits at the earliest and award stringent and befitting punishment under relevant sections of the law.

The organisations have also appealed all the right-thinking intellectuals to condemn such cowardly act, which in itself was a threat not only to the student community but to the society as well. It added that such anti–social activities causing irreparable damage to the properties of the student apex bodies was totally unacceptable.

It further extended solidarity and full support to the ANCSU and NSF and expressed hope that the law enforcing agencies would take up the matter with outmost priority and deliver justice to ANCSU, NSF and the entire student community at the earliest.

In another statement, the Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB), while condemning the May 27 incident, has termed as an act of defamation and insult to all the Naga student bodies across India.

NSUB has appealed to the concerned authority to respond effectively and ensure that the culprits and all those involved in the barbaric act be punished as per the law so that such act is not repeated in the future.

Insult to identity of Naga freedom movement–NSCN (IM)

The NSCN (IM) stated that the act of insanity that took place in the wee hours of May 27, when miscreants vandalised the Naga Club heritage building that house the office of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) was beyond comprehension.

“This is an insult of highest degree not only to NSF, the apex body of Naga students units spread across Nagalim but also to the identity of Naga freedom movement,” an NSCN IM)’s statement through its MIP stated.

It stated that Naga Club building has been standing as a ‘historical memory’ to reminds us of our national identity when the Naga political movement for freedom started.

While condemning the act, NSCN (IM) appealed to the law enforcing agency to act with all seriousness to identify the culprits.
