Student killed in Kohima accident

Kohima, March 10 (EMN):
Kohima police on Tuesday arrested an 18-year-old man in a hit-and-run case, which had resulted in the death of a student in Kohima.

Veyesu Vadeo from Phek district was arrested in connection with the fatal accident in which Phujevi Achumi, a bachelor's student at a college in Kohima was killed, according to Kohima police PRO Talisunep Imchen.

The incident happened when the vehicle (bound towards Naga Hospital) driven by Vadeo, hit the victim at around 3 pm near Naga Bazaar Baptist Church, Kohima. The victim was reportedly shifting his house in Naga Bazaar, according to sources. 

An FIR was filed by the general secretary of Lazami village, in Zunheboto district, at the police station after the incident.

The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol when tested. The driver, while trying to run away from the scene, was caught by Naga Bazaar youth and handed over to the police.
