DIMAPUR — In a suspected murder case, the body of a student of theology was found wrapped inside a sack at Northern Angami Colony in Walford, Dimapur, on Sunday morning.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Dimapur Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Khekali Y Sumi, informed that a case has been registered at East Police Station and the police have handed over the body to the family members after completing all formalities.
In the meanwhile, the Western Sumi Youth Front issued a press statement expressing outrage at what it stated was the brutal murder of a bright and promising student, identified as Noghuvi K Sumi.
“The heinous act of taking a young life and subsequently disposing of the body on the roadside at Northern Angami Colony, Walford Dimapur, has left us in shock and mourning. It reflects a profound disregard for the sanctity of human life,” the statement read.
It appealed to the law enforcement agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“This act of violence cannot go unanswered, and justice must be served. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased. We stand together in solidarity and demand accountability for this heinous crime,” it stated.
