DIMAPUR — The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN), Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) and Samziuram Students’ Union (SSU) have strongly condemned the heinous act of rape on a 13-year-old girl allegedly by her biological father in Samziuram ‘A’ block under Peren district on several occasions.
In separate statements, the three student unions alleged that the accused even threatened to kill his own wife and the victim if they disclosed his shameless and inhuman act.
ZSUN, while vehemently condemning such notorious act meted out to one of the students, stated that such act perpetrated on an innocent individual must be publicly condemned by all the sensible citizens and should be labeled as ‘a cowardice act.’
ZLSU stated that such barbaric and unimaginable act do not have a place in a civilised society and added that ‘action not words’ is required to check such kind of heinous crime in the society.
It added that such kind of mental sickness should be treated with a death sentence to ensure that such a depravity act does not occur in the future. The union expressed shame for the presence of such disgraceful and shameless people in the community.
Meanwhile, the SSU stated that raping of one’s own biological child on multiple occasions by a father, where it should be the safest arm to lean on, was shameless, inhuman and unfit to live and coexist in the present society.
SSU has appealed to the public not to aggravate the situation by circulating any news related to the victim and her family saying it is critical to ensure proper rehabilitation of the victim to assuage the mental and physical trauma after the incident.
The three unions have appealed to the law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate and deliver justice by awarding befitting punishment to the culprit deemed fit under the law expeditiously.
They have further sympathized with the victim and prayed for a quick recuperation from her mental and physical trauma.
