Striker from Nagaland Hiti Seb joins NEUFC reserve team
KOHIMA — Striker Hiti Seb from Nagaland has been inducted into NorthEast United FC’s (NEUFC) reserve team, the list of which was recently announced by the club.
While Seb is the only player from Nagaland to have been selected for the reserve team, another player, Bokato Awomi, also from Nagaland, is in the ‘probables’ category. The probable players will be recalled for another round of trials in the first week of July, according to the club.
Both Hiti Seb and Bokato Awomi underwent trials in Assam and are categorised under that state rather than Nagaland. A NEUFC source informed this newspaper on Wednesday that the states were mentioned according to the location of the trials.
While there is no age limit for the reserve team, the club prefers to have players under the age of 21. The club will provide food and accommodation for all the selected players during their stay in Guwahati. They will undergo regular training throughout their time at the club.
The final trials for the players were held in Guwahati under the leadership of Suhel Nair, who has recently been appointed as the club’s Under-17 head coach and head of youth development.
The final trial was completed after a one-month search for talents across the Northeast, as per the club. The players were scouted from the northeastern states, including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Manipur.
