Street Boys defeated Ziza CC by 31 runs and Supreme XI 17 AR defeated Lancer CC by 4 runs in the two matches played at local Ground, Wokha. With the wins, the two teams entered the quarter finals of the covetous 19th Winter Cricket Challenge, organised by Senior Noble Klan, under the theme ‘Bowl out Corruption.’In the first match, Ziza CC won the toss and electing to field, bowled out the Street Boy by 110 in the 20th over of the inning. Laxman claimed 4 wickets with hat-tricks in his third over, Khyobenthung also claimed 3 wickets. Khyothungo Patton was the highest run getter with 29 runs, he was accompanied by Lanvanthung 23 runs and Mhathung 14 runs.
Chasing the target ZCC were bundled out by the bowlers of Street Boys 32 runs short of the target. Only two batsmen, Renben (13) and Khyoben (11), could reach a two figure for Ziza CC. All the bowlers of Street boys bowled a tidy overs and claimed wickets. Subenthung and Mhathung claimed 3 wickets each, Khyothungo 2, Albert and Yanbothung 1 wicket a piece.
In a close fought second match, Supreme XI 17 Assam Rifles were let to bat after losing the toss and set up a victory target of 133 runs for 7 wickets. Maj. Naveen Kumar led the run scoring with 38 runs and P Lama 34 runs. Renthungo and Pipenthung claimed 2 wickets each and Jenibemo, Gaurav and Mousuf claimed 1 wicket each.
Chasing the target, Lancer CC batsmen were bowled out in the 20th over of the inning on 128 runs, 5 runs short of the victory. The run getter included Gaurav 21runs, Hayithung 20 runs, Asif 20 runs tsenbemo 17 runs and Mousuf 14 runs.Man of the Match Arul Kumar made a haul of 5 wickets and D D Barma claimed 3 wickets.
