Dimapur, JUNE 4: Kohima police personnel manning Peducha check gate during routine checking have detained two Mahindra Pick-Ups (bearing registration (1) NL03A-2503, Chassis No. MA1ZN2GHKF1A11049, Engine No. GHE1M73357 and (2) No. NL03A-2313, Chassis No. MA1ZN2GHK01K73487, Engine No. GHC1K45992) after the status was enquired from the NCRB database.
The vehicle B/R No. NL03A/2503 has been confirmed to be stolen vide Assam Namtola Police Station Case (No. 0017/2015,) whereas, the other vehicle (B/R No. NL03A/2313) was stolen from Assam, Sibsagar and was wanted in connection with Sibsagar P.S case (No. 0668/2014 respectively).
Both the vehicles were plying with fictitious registration certificate (smart card) when seized by Kohima Police.
In a similar case, Kohima police personnel manning the inter-state Khuzama check gate during routine checking have detained one Mahindra Pick-Up (bearing registration No. AS01FC-9254, Chassis No. MA1ZN2GHKC1K73487, Engine No. GHC1K45992) after the status was enquired from the NCRB database and ascertained that the registration number was allotted to a truck by DTO Kamrup, Assam.
Atu Zumvü, NPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (South) & PRO, Kohima, in a press note informed that two persons identified as Salam Ali (19 yrs), S/o Manik Mandal, Vill- Barpeta Mondir, PO/PS- Baber, Dist- Barpeta, Assam and Ksh. Dhiren Singh, S/o Late Tonsing, Vill- Lamlongei, PO/PS- Heingang, Dist-Imphal East have been arrested and in this connection a regular case (vide Khuzama P.S Case No. 0024/2016 U/S 379/471/474 IPC) has been registered against them.
