With Nagaland’s department of Tourism as the main agency three more departments namely the department of Art & Culture, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, and the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission were in New Delhi recently to showcase, promote, and establish services the departments offer through arts and crafts, eco-friendly resources and organic products.
The Global Exhibition on Services was conducted from April 23 and culminated on April 25 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. Nagaland was one amongst the 18 national and 60 international participants in the event.
The Tourism department, department of Art & Culture, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, and the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission participated in the event, also called the India Opportunity platform.
“The objective, at this first ever Global Exhibition on Services, was to showcase, promote and establish services available through the arts and crafts, eco-friendly resources, and organic products of the state and introspect on how much an integrated approach in a package with strategic planning can enhance and sustain tourism in Nagaland,” the department of Tourism stated in a press release issued to the media on Tuesday.
According to the press release, the display of the department of Art and Culture display drew wide interest and queries about the significance behind the traditional attires, motifs, head gears, and other accessories the Nags wear.
“For Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission, since inception, apart from one earlier opportunity at the IITF way back in 2008, this mega event has not only made the ‘Nagaland Hone’ brand to be showcased but also through interaction with visitors dwell on the prospects to upgrade factors like bottling packaging and efficient marketing,” the Tourism department stated.
The Global Exhibition on Services also unraveled the very rich and eco friendly bamboo products of Nagaland ready to be tapped and offer its services to the country and beyond.
“The Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency received inquires from hoteliers, airlines and corporate institutions on corporate gifts and bamboo packaging to mention a few,” the press release stated.
Likewise, Nagaland state’s pavilion being set up in the International Hall enabled the state’s department of Tourism to attract potential visitors and companies interested in generating business.
Business can be generated through direct linkage with the state’s tour operators for quality service and sustainability and thereby possibly ‘become an engine of economic growth in the state,’ the press release stated.
