DIMAPUR — The foundation day celebrations for the states of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura took place at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima, on Saturday, in the presence of the Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan.

According to an update, the governor spoke on the occasion about the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, stating that exposure to the cultures, traditions, and practices of different states and union territories leads to increased understanding and bonding between the states, thereby strengthening India’s unity and integrity.

The governor informed the audience that the significance and importance of such a programme cannot be overstated and that it provides an invaluable opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions that comprise the nation’s fabric.

He said that by gathering to commemorate the founding days, they not only honour their histories and achievements but also foster a sense of unity and togetherness among the people of the Northeast.

The participation of the three states adds an element of goodwill and camaraderie, he said, emphasising the importance of recognising and honouring each region’s unique heritage while promoting unity and understanding in order to build a strong nation.

Representing the state of Manipur, Nanda Singh, library and information officer at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima, shared insights about Manipur, while Emlin Kharkongor, chairman of Khasi Christian Fellowship, Kohima, discussed Meghalaya.
